In the first part of our series, we discussed general skin care. This month, we would like to address the therapies that can be most effective for your facial skin. Experts agree that for best results any skin care regimen should be tailored specifically to the individual and include the initial cleansing; however, when further seeking to improve the overall health of your facial skin, Seema Lakhani-Keys, our certified esthetician, recommends a number of therapies currently available.
Specific Skin Therapies (Part 2 of 3)
Among the most well-known facial treatments is microdermabrasion, which treats acne, acne scars, sun damage, and hyperpigmentation. The process also aids in the penetration of other skin care products by as much as 50%, and gives your make-up a much more polished appearance.
Developed in 1985, the procedure was first used in Italy, as a mechanical means of exfoliating the outermost layer of the skin. After microdermabrasion it will be necessary to wear a sun screen to be sure your skin is properly protected.
There are a number of home-based products available, particularly those that use finely ground grit from fruit pits however improper use has the potential to further damage skin. For these reasons, we recommend clients seek treatment through a trained skin-care professional for best results.
Aside from microdermabrasion, there are additional beauty treatments we recommend to maintain your healthy skin. At Manolo Salons, our skin care professionals use the exclusive and acclaimed Guinot Laboratories therapies, developed in Paris, including Hydradermie, Liftosome, and holistic Aromatic facials.

- Liftosome therapy is a hands-on, anti-aging, gel-peel treatment. Using orange extract, seaweed, and pro-collagen, coupled with a thermal self-heating mask, this therapy lifts and firms your skin. A three week course of treatment is recommended for optimal results.
As with any skin care, there are a number of therapies available. The most important thing to remember is that not every therapy is right for every skin type. To help ensure the best results for you, we recommend strongly that you seek the expertise of an experienced skin care consultant.
