Beauty Tips for this Holiday Season
Between family photos and holiday gatherings, it’s the time of year when we all want to look our party best! Manolo shares the hottest hair and makeup trends and beauty advice for the season.
To put your best face forward, nothing says festive like shimmering makeup. Applied properly, a little shimmer can enhance your evening look and give you a subtle glow. For a fun and feminine look, try a metallic silver or gold eye shadow – two shades that should be your holiday staples. Dab a tiny bit on your cheeks for a cheerful glow. For added glam, pump up your lashes with extra mascara – there’s no better way to amp up your eyes than with long, lush lashes. “Remember that with shimmer and sparkles, less is more,” Manolo says. “So pick one area of your face that you’d like to accentuate. Don’t apply it all over.”
For luscious lips that will hold color while you eat, drink and be merry, try combining a lip stain and conditioning balm. Lip stain is smudge-proof and waterproof and lasts for hours. First, exfoliate your lips by gently rubbing them with a wet toothbrush or a small damp washcloth to get rid of the dead skin. Lip stain will apply better when the lips are smooth and bare. Then, apply a conditioning balm to moisturize your lips.
Holiday hair doesn’t have to be fussy or complicated. Whether you choose to pump up the volume, polish those curls or twist your tresses into a simple updo, sparkle accessories make for perfect party hair.
For hot holiday nails, it’s all about the textured polishes. From velvet and feather to caviar and concrete, dress up your digits with a tactile polish. OPI’s Mariah Carey Holiday 2013 collection features a Liquid Sands finish, giving nails a gritty, sandpaper-ish look in a variety of holiday hues.
The lights of the season won’t be the only sparkle this year if you consider these simple tips to make your holiday merry!
