The celebrated Hollywood Facial is now available at Manolo Salons
A change in seasons is just around the corner, and for many of us, the cold days of winter bring more than just a rosy glow to the cheeks; they also bring uncomfortable dryness to the skin of the face, hands and feet. The combination of harsh, cold temperatures outside and dry heat blasting inside can cause cracked, dry skin, leaving you itchy and irritated.
But by making a few simple changes in your skincare routine now, you can have soft, beautiful skin all season long. Manolo offers his advice for getting your skin ready for winter now.
“Many people put off treating dry skin until they are really suffering,” Manolo said. “It is a good idea to be proactive and begin preparing in the autumn to protect your skin for the cold, dry, windy weather.
1. Moisturize more.
Start now to coat your skin with a continuous nourishing and protective cream that is oil-based, rather than water-based, before dry patches or flakes start to appear. An ointment like Guinot’s Age Logic Cellulaire will create a protective layer on the skin that retains more moisture and provides comfort and suppleness.
2. Use the right lip balm.
Keep chapped lips at bay with an occlusive balm that features beeswax, coconut oil or shea butter, like Baume Levres Confort Lip Balm also from Guinot, and avoid balms with fragrances and perfumes, which can actually dry out the lips.
3. Skip hot showers.
Although it may be tempting to warm up with a long, steamy shower, intensely hot water actually breaks down the lipid barriers in the skin, which can lead to a loss of moisture. Instead, take a 5- to 10-minute lukewarm shower or bath. You should also avoid using excessively hot water when washing your hands.
4. Use a humidifier.
Central heating systems (as well as space heaters) blast hot dry air throughout our homes and offices. Among their many benefits, humidifiers infuse the air with moisture, soothing dried out, itchy and cracked skin. You will wake up feeling refreshed with glowing, supple skin.
5. Get a fall facial treatment.
A facial improves circulation, provides deep cleansing and restores moisture and hydration. The Hollywood Facial, which recently has gained notoriety through celebrity endorsements on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Good Morning America and The Doctors, is now available at both Manolo Salons locations with a licensed aesthetician fully certified to provide this crème de la crème of treatments.
Also known as the Beverly Hills Stars Facial, the treatment combines deep hydration, exfoliation, tissue and muscle stimulation, relaxation, and deep pore cleansing to give skin a smoother, more youthful tone and texture. The treatment’s signature – the galvanic current mask – effectively introduces water soluble solutions into the skin by a process called iontophoresis and draws vitamin rich solutions into the dermal tissue by means of electricity.
“There is nothing quite like the Hollywood Facial; it is the most comprehensive approach to treating the skin,” Manolo said. “It is safe and effective and my customers can see and feel the results after the first treatment.”
While the winter months may pose unique challenges to skin care, Manolo’s advice on prepping your skin now will help you maintain healthy, beautiful skin throughout the season.
